Fauna Hydration Event
Encouraging fauna hydration events in summer is essential to mitigate the impact of heatwaves and droughts on wildlife,
ensuring their survival during challenging conditions. By providing water sources, we can prevent dehydration
and heat stress among animals, maintaining biodiversity and ecosystem health.
Together we act.
In the summer of 2023, we have been actively developing a summer program aimed at providing a sustainable solution for street animals and birds to access water during the challenging weather conditions they face.
In 2023, a generous donation of 11 pots was made by Mr. Mahesh Chheda. The subsequent year, in 2024, we were delighted to receive over 30 pots, which we strategically placed at picturesque coastal locations including First and Second Beach, also some in housing societies in Dahanu.
Making it easy to find.
Our ocean warriors are dedicated to refilling the pots daily on a rotational schedule, and we maintained the same strategy in 2023.
For the year 2024, our initiative involved encouraging individuals enjoying the beach to pour any remaining water into the pots placed strategically before their departure. To enhance the visual appeal and attract attention, we adorned the surrounding trees and specific locations with a delightful assortment of multi-colored ribbons, creating a vibrant and eco-friendly display.
Thirst of summer.
In the summer of 2023, the temperature peaked at 40 degrees Celsius.. Under such circumstances, natural drinking water sources near the coastline dry up rapidly. With a smaller population residing along the coastline, these birds and animals struggle to locate sources of drinking water nearby.
Our warriors have kept refilling the pots to this day, yet at times we encounter strangers replenishing the pots with leftover water before leaving.
